Matt Yglesias takes Rahm Emmanuel’s suggestion to heart: never let a serious crisis go to waste. During a wildfire that has charred tens of thousands of Texas landscape, Yglesias (who was visiting Texas and posted running commentary not unlike that of an anthropologist visiting Papau New Guineau) made a point to link climate change to the fires with an undercurrent of Ward Churchill-esque “chickens coming home to roost”:

Zek J. Evets has written a mundane piece taking me to task for my “White Jew Problems” post in which I criticized Maxim editor Seth Porges for making a big deal about the pork in Chipotle’s pinto beans. Evets tries to cover a lot of ground – most importantly by charging me with being an anti-Semite, seemingly because I used the word “Jew” in my post title. The title is a play on a common meme of “White people problems” where blacks or other minorities laugh at the minor inconveniences that white people complain about on Facebook or on their blogs. To me, complaining about pork in beans displays the “white” part of the joke while applying it to Jews. Truth is, I don’t care about Semites; I have bigger fish to fry.

good response. I’ve hardly ever mentioned the word “Jew” on this blog. If Zek wants to harangue me about my insensitivities to other groups, he has at least a tenable case in pointing out my writings on BBBs and other black people. One could make the argument that I’m insensitive to “black plight”. My only response is that over-sensitivity to “black plight” is a crutch that hurts everyone in the long run.
Zek just wants to take me down for some reason. I think he’s still mad that Abagond agreed with me when I told him to stop flaunting his black girlfriend around the internet as a badge of honor.

For example, I didn’t experience World War II, but I would be correct to state that it happened in more than one country and that the death toll was staggering.

I am a Jew both racially and in religion, and have been reading your excellent blog for years. Calling you or this blog anti-semitic is absurd.
I assumed the title of the Jew post was due to the faux-kosher element to the story. That is anti-semitism though. There is such a thing as “White People Problems” being a triviality but there has never been such a thing as “Jewish People Problems” that are similarly trivial. What Seth Porges had to endure is dire and serious. Your ‘naming the Jew’ is basically using burning pork fat to burn a serial number into his forearm.
Although you should care about ‘Semites’. Lest you miss out on the coming revolution, now that the Neo-Nazis have found a way to harness the power of the weeabo. (Yes, that is ‘Mein Kampf’…the manga).

I’ll confess to curiosity about the Dude’s preference for Semitic women. The term “Semite” covers a broad enough geographic range that not all groups that fall under the rubric look the same or have the same population genetic profile. In other words, Levantine Arabs are somewhat different from Arabs of the Arabian peninsula. Ashkenazi Jews show evidence of ancient Levantine ancestry but also of relatively ancient admixture with (probably Southeast) Europeans. Despite all that, is there any unifying feature among the Semitic women that is desirable?
