Drudge and others linked to the story of two black men beating a man in the head with a hammer in Midway, Florida just miles from where Trayvon Martin was shot a month earlier. The 50 year-old victim is in critical condition after Julius Bender and Yahaziel Israel attacked him in his SUV, dragged him into the woods, and stole his car.
While most of the bigger media outlets covering the case seemingly eraced the victim, the Sanford Herald provided a link to the 911 call in which the caller mentions a white victim and two Hispanic attackers. The Herald had reported on the eyewitness account of the call several days before:

Deputies were called to the area of Beardall Avenue and Lincoln Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a man was being beaten by two other men with blunt instrument. Deputies found the victim, a 50-year-old white male, inside the woods on the north side of Lincoln Street near Beardall Avenue. He was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he is currently in critical condition.

Investigators are searching for two Hispanic males, both approximately 20 years of age. One of the men was 5’8” and wearing blue denim shorts and no shirt. The second man was 5’10.”
I don’t know what to make of the caller stating that the attackers were Hispanic. One of the suspects (Bender) is a light skinned black man; the other (Israel) is pretty dark. Police have said that forensics evidence from the car ties both of the accused men to the crime. That, plus
Midway, Florida is listed as being just over 1% Hispanic, 67% black, and 30% white. My inner cynic tells me that the caller wanted to help the victim but didn’t want to pin the crime on two black men. Of course, take that with a grain of salt.
As seems to be the pattern here, both of the suspects have open Facebook profiles. There isn’t a whole lot to be gleaned from either – no admissions of guilt or other chatter alluding to a crime – but one of the suspects,
Israel, appears to have spent time in prison for battery. Last year, he posted:

The history of grand theft and battery are germane to this case. The last line there is also noteworthy but for other reasons. It fits the prevailing attitude of many in Israel’s demographic that the world – the Illuminati, the Man, or Google – is out to screw up their fortune. To Israel, he can’t get a job because Google exposes him for what he is – a felon. To him, his inability to find a job has nothing to do with his being a violent criminal.
Question: if it’s racist for whites (or white Hispanics) to criminally profile young black men, is it also racist for blacks to victimizationally profile whites? I get the sense that blacks sometimes target whites because they know (or observe) that whites have material items worth stealing and because whites are less likely to fight back. The
National Crime Victimization Survey compiled by the Department of Justice found that in 2008 100% of robberies of blacks that ended in injury were committed by blacks. In the same year 61.6% of whites who were injured during robbery were attacked by whites (though DOJ lumps Hispanics into the white category) while 25.5% were attacked by blacks. This suggests that some blacks racially profile their victims.

Actually, cops racially profile white people quite a bit, too.
If they see someone white driving in or out of the wrong area, it’s pretty obvious that they’re at the location to buy drugs or complete some other illicit transaction. They then find an excuse to pull the vehicle or run its license plates.
It’s a well-known tactic by law enforcement.

When a Black suspect robs or murders a White/Asian/Latino victim, it’s merely a crime of opportunity with no racial overtones. Reverse it and it’s a hate crime.

The liberal intelligentsia decided a long time ago that blacks could never be racists, because blacks don’t have institutional power. They didn’t say anything about hammers, though.
If I find myself in a bad neighborhood by taking an unfamiliar interstate exit, i notice that the locals immediately notice that I am not from around there and they begin moving towards by car. If I let them get close enough, they will ask me for money, or a cigarette, or the time. I know that those are just tactics to get closer, and I drive away. But it is obvious that my white skin is what sets me apart and what points out that I am a suitable victim. I cannot imagine that those same black prople are treating every person they meet the same regardless of color.

The only thing I remember from the stupid sociology class that I had to take was pretty much what Buck just said: Institutionalized racism exists, no one can prove it but we know it’s there, and people without “power” can’t be racist. Something along those lines. Blacks and liberals will repeat the mantra “black people can’t be racist” with a straight face, and we just have to sit and endure the “cracka” comments and the random race-motivated physical assaults in broad daylight. The way things are starting to shape up I might just have to move to a concealed carry state.
Those perps must be hispanic-blacks, which explains the 911 caller’s confusion. Or maybe white-African-Americans, upon closer scrutiny.

“Yahaziel Israel” is a somewhat strange name for a black dude but it’s an even weirder name for a Catholic Hispanic one.
Chuck, I think your theory about why they were said to be Hispanic is probably right.
The caller was probably a black dude. Blacks are real up in arms over this Trayvon Martin thing, sensing they may be able to get so group concessions out of it.
