Schadenfreude!
When it dawns on them that the pie is shrinking, I will get my popcorn for the patchwork coalition fights. Our most wretched behavior is reserved for those closest to us.
Yes, indeed, very satisfying.
All the soon-to-be empty schools, I imagine, could be commandeered by forces loyal to Provisional Government of National Restoration (PGNR) to house our settler-families re-occupying cleared-out sectors.
“Social justice” in grammar school? Geez… I wonder what they plan on paying the utilities for those schools with? Peace love and tofu ain’t gonna pay those monster water and electric bills that buildings like schools tend generate. Do they think the utility companies won’t cut them off? Love to see them try that “occupying” crap with a power plant or water station. They will have the army roll in on them then, branded domestic terrorist. They will learn all about what big government can do for them then as they occupy a chain link cell in the middle of some desert in parts unknown.
I dont understand are you trying to say that Detroit is failing because it’s too liberal compared to other non failing perfectly pleasant places like say Hong Kong and Sweden?
I don’t understand, you find it satisfying that elementary schools are closing because the government places other interests ahead of educating children? Where do I sign up for the occupy movement?
There’s a kind of libertarian ethos in the Occupy efforts. Oakland’s own Independent Institute published a book with an apparent emphasis on the folks who actual run the school owning it: http://www.independent.org/store/book.asp?id=35
Unfortunately it seems Occupy just wants to reinforce big, centralized and distant control. It hates rich folks even as it concedes it really really needs them, wherever they are.
A Bit Confused, the pleasantness of a place is (for good or ill) highly correlated with the pleasantness of its people.
