1.  Razib Khan discusses the Driftless Region – the area in the upper midwest which is full of white people who seem to embrace yeoman conservative values but who have tended to vote Blue over the past few elections.  Some commenters offer up what I also believe to be one of the explanations for this pocket of blue:  Lutheranism or, more precisely, Christians who aren’t Evangelicals.

2.  Walter Russell Mead on exploding student debt and its greater impact on poorer students i.e. the students that loan programs were supposed to help.  Does the GOP want to get a larger portion of the youth vote?  Push for a reversal of laws limiting bankruptcy for federal student debt.  Debt avoidance should be seen as a conservative principle – it is of the constrained vision.  Living beyond your means – the unconstrained vision – is a liberal mindset.  “Everything will work out and be OK.”

3.  Cord Jefferson sees at least some racism in the demonization of Chris Brown, the latest incident which involves a female comedian who caused Brown to call her a “hoe”, threaten to shit in her eye, and then leave Twitter.  Jefferson actually offers a defense of why hating on Brown per se isn’t racist.  The incident evokes strong reactions mainly because of the infamous picture showing a battered Rihanna.  Jefferson doesn’t mention, though, in his list of white actors who’ve abused, that Rihanna is probably one of the most high profile women to be abused since it happened to Tina Turner.

“Push for a reversal of laws limiting bankruptcy for federal student debt.”

Except that wouldn’t be fair to 1) creditors, and 2) students who forsook loans and worked their way through school.

Screw fairness, we don’t live in that kind of society anymore. Big bankers gambled away hundreds of billions of dollars in bad loans and investments. Fedgov bailed them out.

GM and its parasite unions ran their company into the ground. Fedgov bailed them out.

Time to bail out the average person. Fedgov is just printing the money anyway, or moving a few zeros from one column to another – it doesn’t mean anything anymore.

Until it all comes crashing down of course.

I didn’t read the article, but since you also didn’t mention it, its a safe bet that it wasn’t brought up that Rihanna brought her infamous beat-down on herself. Part of the problem today is we have a large population of people who feel that the should be protected, or at the very least not have to suffer the repercussions of their own actions. If I recall correctly Ol’Rihanna was beating Brown with her shoe in the car just before he started hitting her back. Was it the first time he, or they, hit each other, I cant say. what I can say is, “you fuck with the bull, you get the horns.” Also, if Brown is such a creep, why the heck would she stick around or even take him back. Sorry, but double dumb-ass on her, 10 yard penalty.

“ppl complain that alt-right doesn’t offer solutions. alt-righters don’t believe there are solutions. we’re just waiting to say told you so.”

Funny tweet – of course alt-righters offer all kinds of solutions, it’s just that our solutions are utterly incomprehensible and horrifying to liberals and statists:

*Bring home all the overseas troops and put them along the border to capture immigrants. Halt all immigration.

    *End affirmative action.

*Pretty much end welfare unless it’s a widow or some other serious sob story.

*Dismantle the EPA, federal education apparatus, DEA and any other useless fedgov divisions.

*Remove all restrictions on drilling for oil or other natural resources. If it’s on private land, it’s up to the owner what drilling happens.

*Fix no-fault divorce and child support – at a minimum, make CS tax deductible so the father doesn’t get shafted twice. At best, eliminate CS completely in cases where the father wants to have 50/50 custody. NO alimony/maintenance whatsoever. Also, whichever spouse earned the money, keeps the money.

*Sell off 90% of federal park land except for a few historic locations like the Grand Canyon or Yosemite. Then the people who bought those lands can drill on them or do whatever.

*Serious tax breaks for companies that stay in America and employ Americans.

*Get fedgov’s nose out of health care completely. Let the people of Wyoming decide how they want health care handled in Wyoming.

In fact, 90% of our problems would be solved if most issues were handled by each state individually – if you don’t like how Texas handles its k-12 education, move to Louisiana….

All of those are solutions, but no liberal/statist would ever consider implementing a single one.

  6. PA 11/27/2012 at 5:13 pm

I like a-peraspera points except for things I call “Locust Libertarianism” such as dismantling the EPA or selling off national parks.

  7. a_peraspera 11/27/2012 at 5:26 pm

    PA,

Environmental protections would still exist, it’s just that there would be 50 state EPAs with their own standards. Maybe Texas would want to drill for natural gas everywhere, but the people of Vermont would rather “just say no” with zoning laws and pay higher prices for natgas by importing it from another state. The problem with fedgov is they are putting us all in the “just say no” category whether we like it or not.

As for selling the parks, people who own things tend to take good care of them – and we the taxpayers would no longer have to pay a horde of forest rangers – the private owners would pay to clear the brush and so forth. Sure, there might be a ten dollar fee to get in the park or whatever, but who can’t afford that? People pay $25.00 to get into King’s Island for gods sake.

“Cord Jefferson sees at least some racism in the…”

Does anyone still take the r-word seriously? It’s an obvious code for anti-white and is an overused tool by which the lowliest, stupidest, most illiterate joke on two legs can establish rhetorical supremacy over his betters if they let him.

  9. PA 11/27/2012 at 5:31 pm

“As for selling the parks, people who own things tend to take good care of them”

I don’t have much faith in developers and their short-term profit motivation. The phenomenon is known as “the tragedy of the commons.”

  10. anonymous 11/27/2012 at 5:34 pm

Chris brown is a little bitch. Beating Rhianna in essentially self defense was about the only good thing he’s done with his life. That twitter outburst just proves the point.

  11. ATC 11/27/2012 at 7:23 pm

#3: He who controls the frame…they’ve been lecturing us for years that we’re racist for not “caring enough” about black VICTIMS (see below link). Then when we do care, that’s racist as well.

The only purposes of informing people that both a behavior AND its opposite are morally wrong are to humiliate and control them and make them dependent on you for permission to say and think anything.

    PA –

Tragedy of the commons is what happens if a bunch of people come and overuse commonly held (i.e. government) land.

Sure, if everybody gets to use something but it’s no one’s responsibility to clean it up, then it will be destroyed. Doesn’t apply if there is clear ownership.

  14. Reym 11/27/2012 at 10:23 pm

    @a_peraspera:

I mostly like your list. Let me add a couple things that I think would be good for a right-conservative party to do. We all know the Republicans are too stupid to advocate this kind of stuff but someone could.

    * Legalization of Marijuana
    * Reform of Copyright, particularly as it relates to online filesharing
    * Dismantle Feminist Bullshit and African Bullshit Studies programs in all public universities or institutions that receive public funding (all of them).
    * Crap like the Department of Education and the Federal Endowment for the Arts should be cleaned out entirely and their agenda should be set in reinforcing realistic policy and ideas, not leftist policy and ideas.
    * Invest a few billion dollars in the only practical clean and sustainable energy source – Nuclear power. A few billion dollars now will serve us well for a hundred years if we make it that long.

    ATC,

The reason blacks are sentenced to death more for killing whites is: when blacks kill whites there is usually some horrific torture or rape involved – like forcing them to drink bleach or stabbing them 500 times. Blacks have such a visceral hatred of whites that when they “snap,” they really go all out.

When blacks kill blacks it’s usually in a gunfight, where both were being aggressive. Why would a judge impose the DP for that?

When blacks kill whites, the white guy didn’t do anything to provoke it unless you count an annoyed look, having a nice car, or stepping on the black guys shoe as provocation.

“female comedian” my foot. The word is “comedienne.”

  17. chicnoir 11/28/2012 at 8:52 pm

I haven’t read about this latest Chris Brown issue because I am sick of the attention whores. just let your talent speak for itself, twitter beefs, releasing nude pics and sex tapes are not things that talented people do or should have to do to get ahead. Could you imagine Nancy Wilson, Frank Sinatra or Sammy Davis Jr releasing nude pics on twitter?

Exactly, back in those days if you did dirt, you keep it under raps.

Now, I think the issue here is the comedian grabbed an angry tigger by the claws. In other words, she kept going for an ebeef ,Chris gave it to her, then she used “white woman’s tears” to make Chris look like more of a monster. This beef may even help her career. Par example, how many people knew who Taylor Swift was before the Kayne West incident?

Bottom line, don’t support attention whores, vote with your dollars and clicks.

  18. SOBL1 11/28/2012 at 9:18 pm

“Par example, how many people knew who Taylor Swift was before the Kayne West incident?”

I got a good chuckle out of that line. Swift seemed to be doing fine enough to headline a tour and have a song big enough to win an award which would merit a drunk tard to interrupt her reception of that award. Black people probably didn’t know her, but to give you an example of such ‘viewing things through the prism of one’s race’, I think the woman anyone on this comment list would think of with your Nancy Wilson reference would imagine the high heel wearing guitar player from Heart not the singer you are thinking of.

  19. chicnoir 11/28/2012 at 9:31 pm

SOB1- you may have a point, but I didn’t see Swift of the cover of major fashion magazines until after the Kayne incident and it’s also when she happened to pick up her Covergirl contract. Like many country artist who outsell most pop performers, Swift was known to most people in the mainstream.

  20. chicnoir 11/28/2012 at 9:34 pm

@SOB1- I beg your pardon young man. All of the classy older gentleman who come thru these parts know who Nancy Wilson is as well as Miles Davisand Thelomonious Monk. Jazz is for elegant people with refined tastes.

Fat people should cut down on their sugar consumption rather than worry about whether the sugar they consume is 50% fructose or 60% fructose.
